During a gun control debate at the most recent Greensboro City Council meeting city resident Mark Robinson rose to speak and made known that the citizens of the city are “going to keep [their rights], come hell or high water.”
The council was taking comment on the Mayor Nancy Vaughan’s (D) push to end gun shows at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Robinson spoke to say the mayor and city council can pass all the gun control they want, and when they are done they will have only succeeded in disarming law-abiding citizens, thereby creating easy prey for criminals who will retain their guns. He stressed that it is time to quit sacrificing the law-abiding majority in the city to the whims of a vocal minority that blame every gun owner for a school shooting or night club shooting, instead of blaming the person who carried out the attack.
Robinson made clear that the law-abiding citizen enjoys going to the a gun show as way of exercising their rights, and he spoke against the left’s manic claims about the AR-15 while doing so: “[Law-abiding citizens] want to be able to go the gun show and buy a hunting rifle or a sport rifle. They aren’t military grade weapons sold at a gun show. An AR-15 is not a military grade weapon. Anybody that would go into combat with an AR-15 is full, it’s a semi-automatic .22 rifle. You’d be killed in 15 minutes in combat with that thing.”
Robinson closed his statements by saying, “The bottom is, when that Second Amendment was written, whether the Framers liked it or not, they wrote it for everybody. And I am everybody, and the law-abiding citizens of this city are everybody, and we want our rights and want to keep our rights and by God we’re going to keep them, come hell or high water.”
