In schools across America on March 14, students walked out of classrooms in a supposed show of solidarity with Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivors in their efforts to demand “change” to the nations gun laws.
In Seattle, Washington, Seattle City Council member and co-sponsor of a resolution to officially endorse Wednesday’s walkout in that city, M. Lorena Gonzalez, said in remarks directed to local university and high school students, “I’m really sorry that as adults, we’ve left you with no alternative but to do this.”
While the students’ demands remain largely unclear — including everything from vague calls for the government to do something up to and including the outright banning of certain rifles and confiscation of personal property — what is 100 percent certain is the liberal media’s desire to exploit the protests with massive and sympathetic coverage. Between now and the upcoming March for Our Lives scheduled in Washington, DC, later this month, the media blitz is expected to be intense, culminating with explosive reportage on that day. Attendance by left-wing Hollywood activists, families of victims, and every gun-control group in America will guarantee monstrous all-day coverage by every network and cable news outlet.
Splashed across hundreds of millions of television screens to a global audience, the speakers will take the stage to demand that Americans curtail one of their most basic and precious rights, the right to bear arms for self-preservation and defense of their nation. Their soaring rhetoric will denounce the NRA and its millions of members which includes first responders, military, law-enforcement, and ordinary Americans as terrorists and murderers who couldn’t care less about the lives of others. President Donald Trump and millions of Republicans, representing over 100 million law-abiding gun owners, will be condemned as heartless killers with blood-soaked hands for merely being gun-owners.
The imagery of thousands of children marching for their lives will convey a perceptual victory over the “gun lobby” and will sway many low-information voters, who might not have otherwise engaged in the gun control debate, to stand against the Second Amendment. The cumulative effect will have a damaging impact on polling numbers and may tilt elections. The greatest irony of all, something you will never hear mentioned during the days heated, anti-gun rhetoric, is that all of it will take place under the watchful eye of thousands of heavily armed men and women protecting gun controllers with, you guessed it — guns.
Only in America.
