Billing it as “hotly anticipated,” People magazine reported that former first lady Michelle Obama has revealed the name and release date for her memoir.
“Former First Lady Michelle Obama announced the title of her hotly anticipated first memoir, Becoming, and it’s [sic] Nov. 13 release date—when it will be simultaneously published in 24 languages worldwide—in a statement to PEOPLE on Sunday.”
“Writing Becoming has been a deeply personal experience,” Obama, 54, said in the statement. “It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life … how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others.”
The book’s publisher, Penguin Random House, is promoting Obama’s book by saying it will buck memoir tradition, comparing it to the controversial official portrait of President Barack Obama that was revealed this month at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery.
“Becoming is an unusually intimate reckoning from a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same,” Markus Dohle, the publishing house’s CEO said in a statement to People.
According to the outlet, Obama is planning an international book tour after its release.
People reported that Barack Obama is expected to have his presidential memoir ready for release in 2019.
Fox News reported last year that the Obamas will earn $65 million for their joint book deal.
