A fired high school assistant principal is accused of having sex with a student over whom she had direct supervision at school, police say.
Dawn Diimmler, 44, a former assistant principal at Airport High School, turned herself in to police Saturday morning and was charged with sexual battery of a student for the alleged sexual encounters, the State reported.
The Lexington District Two School Board fired Diimmler February 12 for “disciplinary actions,” although the school board did not specify the reason for her firing at the time.
A spokeswoman for the city of Cayce, where Airport High School is located, said Diimmler allegedly had sex with a 19-year-old high school student while at the school.
Diimmler is being held on $30,000 bond at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
A staggering number of school officials have been accused of sexual misconduct during the past few weeks.
An Alabama middle school teacher was arrested Tuesday for allegedly having sex with a female student during school hours, and a South Carolina teacher was arrested for alleged sexual misconduct for being half-naked with a student in a car earlier this month.
