Ohio State Sens. Michael Skindell (D-23) and Charleta Tavares (D-15) are pushing a state-wide “assault weapons” ban for law-abiding Ohioans.
The push for the ban comes days after Gov. John Kasich (R) deleted references to pro-gun accomplishments from his website and asked if Americans would really loose that much by being forced to hand over their AR-15s?
Fox 8 reports that Skindell and Tavares want to ban every “automatic or semi-automatic firearm capable of accepting a detachable magazine with the capacity to accept ten or more cartridges. It also includes any semi-automatic firearm with a fixed magazine that can accept ten cartridges or more.”
This ban would not only cover AR-15s, AK-47s, and similar guns, but also Ruger 10/22 rifles, Marlin Model 60 (.22 lr), and related guns.
The pair unsuccessfully pushed similar legislation in 2013, but Kasich was not hinting at an AR-15 ban at that time.
On February 20 Breitbart News reported that the White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was asked about a possible “assault weapons” ban and she said, “We haven’t closed the door on any front.”
