A mob of hateful Twitter trolls excoriated the father of one of the victims of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting because he was wearing a Donald Trump campaign t-shirt as he drove to the school looking for his daughter who turned out to be among the dead.
Father Andrew Pollack was seen last Wednesday searching for his daughter, Meadow, only a few hours after the school shooting suspect had opened fire at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Sadly, the man found out that his 18-year-old daughter had lost her life in the attack.
While many expressed sympathy for the man’s loss, many left-wing Twitter users were infuriated by the fact that the man was wearing a Donald Trump shirt when he appeared at the school. A tweet by local reporter Alexandra Seltzer, showing Mr. Pollack as he approached the school, quickly went viral.
But, as soon as Seltzer posted her tweet, the hate poured in for the victim’s father. Because he dared wear a Trump shirt, liberals thought he deserved his tremendous loss. Liberals from across the nation jumped on the tweet, some proclaiming that the grieving father’s vote killed his daughter, others passed on the fiction that Trump “repealed” a “law” that stopped the mentally ill from getting their hands on guns, and others just attacked the father in no uncertain terms.
Of course, many commenters were upset by the attackers and, in turn, attacked the ignorant tweeters who were turning Mr. Pollack’s grief into political fodder.
“Meadow Pollack was one of 17 people killed last Wednesday during the deadly shooting,” Fox News reported. “Pollack was described as a ‘beautiful girl, inside and out’ by her cousin Jake Maisner, according to the Sun Sentinel. Pollack planned to go to Lynn University for college. Maisner added that the 18-year-old was the ‘baby’ of the family.”
“Everyone wanted to protect her,” her grief-stricken father said.
The student was laid to rest on February 16.
