White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders left no doubt where the White House stood on the DACA amnesty bill proposed by Sen. Jeff Flake, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and Sen. Dick Durbin.
“It’s totally unacceptable to the president and should be declared dead on arrival,” Sanders said in a statement at the White House press briefing.
She explained that the bill did not meet the criteria set by the White House to reduce chain migration, secure the border, and eliminate the visa lottery system.
“It would not secure our border, encourage more illegal immigration, increase chain migration, and retain the visa lottery system,” she said.
Sanders said that the Trump administration would continue to consider immigration reform proposals on DACA, but that ultimately it had to fix the larger problem of illegal immigration.
