A trucker’s patriotic salute to a fallen veteran on the side of a Missouri highway is capturing hearts on social media.

U.S. Army veteran Bradley Faulkner pulled his semi-truck over to the side of Interstate 70, got out of his truck, and placed his hand on his heart while a fallen veteran’s funeral procession passed him, Fox News reported.

The deceased WWII veteran’s granddaughter took notice of Faulkner’s gesture and posted the image of him saluting his fellow veteran from the side of the road.

“While in the funeral procession today to Jefferson Barracks to lay my grandfather to rest a man driving a truck pulled off and made honor as we all proceeded. Thank you for showing such great honor – I found and got to personally thank this man!!” the veteran’s granddaughter, Kristen Collins, wrote.

Collins added that she later touched base with Faulkner, an Iraq veteran, after his wife noticed the image.

WWII Navy veteran Fred Ladage died at age 91 and was laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Ladage had been married for 61 years and served in both the Navy and the Navy Reserves during WWII.

Other veterans and active-duty soldiers have stopped in the middle of the road to salute their fallen comrades.

A soldier stationed at Fort Hood in Texas parked his car on the side of the highway and saluted a fallen veteran’s funeral procession in the pouring rain in April 2017.
