A prominent illegal alien who advocates for open borders has landed a book deal where he will lecture Americans on the issue of immigration in a memoir titled “Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen.”
Jose Antonio Vargas, an illegal alien and poster-boy of the open borders lobby, has signed a book deal with HarperCollins’s Dey Street Books to publish a memoir about being an illegal alien in the United States.
The Los Angeles Times exclusively reported:
Vargas has directed two documentaries: “Documented,” about his own story as an undocumented immigrant, and “White People,” a 2015 film about the impact of white privilege.
“After finding out I didn’t have the right legal documents to be in this country, I’ve always wanted to write my way into America,” he said. But Dey Street executive editor Julia Cheiffetz “has been encouraging me to write a book for years, and I’m excited and terrified to finally put my full story on the page.”
Vargas became the face of the open borders lobby and the so-called “DREAM Act” in 2011, when he revealed that he has been living illegally in the U.S. since he was 12-years-old.
Vargas has described himself as the “most privileged” illegal alien in the U.S. and, in 2014, was briefly detained by the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) but was not deported out of the U.S. to his native Philippines.
The former Washington Post journalist has made a career out of pushing his pro-immigration, pro-amnesty views through his organization “Define American.” Vargas also directed the MTV documentary “White People” where he asserted that white Americans have no choice but to accept diversity, saying it is “our destiny.”
“Too often I think when we talk about diversity or we talk about inclusion, we don’t include white people in the conversation,” Vargas said at the time.
“When talking about diversity, which is our destiny, how do you ensure that everyone, including white Americans, are part of the conversation?” Vargas asked. “What is the emerging American identity, and where do you fit?”
There is not yet a release date for Vargas’s illegal alien memoir.
