President Donald Trump hinted during a cabinet meeting that he might be visiting the wall prototypes on the southern border.
“I may be going there very shortly to look at them in their final form,” he said during a cabinet meeting at the White House. “We’ll be building the wall and doing lots of other things.”
Construction for the eight different prototypes was completed in October, as border officials are currently testing them for durability and security.
Trump praised border officials for their efforts to stop illegal immigration and getting rid of MS-13 gang members.
“We’re calling on Congress to fund the border wall which we’re getting very close to,” Trump said. “We’re working on that.”
The president has repeatedly cited the importance of wall funding, but Congress has still failed to include it as part of a bill.
