Leftist protesters caused a commotion on Tuesday, interrupting the House of Representatives debate on tax reform.
One of the women protesters in a wheelchair took her shirt off and started yelling at House Speaker Paul Ryan, according to reporters watching the proceedings.
“You starve America with this bill … you starve us all,” she shouted as security dragged her off.
Other protesters interrupted Republicans on the house floor as the debate continued.
“You lie Mr. Speaker, you lie!” one protester yelled at Speaker Paul Ryan.
“You’re lying. Liar, liar,” another woman said to Ryan. “You should go back to school to learn how to do math.”
“Kill the bill, don’t kill us,” other protesters shouted.
“You’re fired! You’re fired!” another one yelled.
“We vote! We will remember you!” one shouted.
It is against the House rules to disrupt Congressional proceedings, but inevitably protesters slip through to yell directly at members prior to the passage of significant legislation.
The bill passed with a final vote of 227-203. Twelve Republican representatives voted against it.
