The State Department announced earlier this week that it will begin distributing the official portraits of President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Secretary of State Tillerson to its offices domestically and embassies worldwide.
The notice went out on Tuesday to staff, according to an email obtained by Breitbart News.
The photos will hang in the executive offices of each State Department bureau, as well embassies, missions, consular agencies, cultural centers ,and libraries worldwide.
The move is welcomed by Trump supporters within the department, who have been waiting months for the photos to arrive.
The lack of official Trump photos in federal installations, months after his inauguration, has been a source of media scrutiny.
It is not totally clear why it has taken so long.
A main reason seems to be the White House itself. By mid-September, Trump and Pence had not yet taken their photos. The White House released the official photos on October 31, 2017. They were ready to be ordered by agencies on November 28, 2017.
In comparison, former President Obama’s official photo was taken a few days before he took the oath of office in January 20, 2009, and his and Vice President Joe Biden’s photos were ready to be ordered on Feb. 19, 2009.
The State Department’s Global Publishing Services said in the December 12 email that it has received the photos and will begin distributing them.
The official photos of Trump and Pence are currently hanging in the Pentagon.
