A sign touting the candidacy of Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Roy Moore outside of the Shelby County, AL Republican Party headquarters was defaced Friday.

The sign was marked through in several places and the words “Doug Jones,” Moore’s Democratic Party opponent in Tuesday’s U.S. Senate special election, were written in numerous places on the sign.

The headquarters in Pelham, AL, a southern suburb of Birmingham, is located on Valleydale Road near U.S. Hwy 31 and is a prominent thoroughfare that serves Pelham and Helena.

The Shelby County group declared in a Facebook post that it “refuse to be deterred or intimidated by the frustrated supporters of a losing Democrat candidate.”

It went on to add that vandalism “was never acceptable.”
