President Donald Trump commented on the ongoing special counsel Russia investigation, saying that he felt sympathy for General Mike Flynn, his former National Security Advisor.

“I feel badly for Gen. Flynn. I feel very badly,” Trump told reporters at the Whtie House on Monday. “He’s led a very strong life, and I feel very badly about it.”

Flynn plead guilty to lying to the FBI regarding conversations he had with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak after Trump was elected president.

Trump expressed sorrow that it had happened, comparing his plight to that of Hillary Clinton.

“I will say this. Hillary Clinton lied many times to the FBI and nothing happened to her,” Trump said. “Flynn lied, and it destroyed his life, and I think it’s a shame.”
