‘Chicago Tribune’ Reporter Carjacked on City’s South Side

Police are investigating a carjacking that befell a reporter from the Chicago Tribune in the city’s south side Bridgeport neighborhood.

The unnamed female reporter told police she was sitting in a late-model Chevrolet Malibu owned by the newspaper at about 2:30 AM early Monday morning on December 4. She was in a parking lot near the 700 block of West 31st Street when two men walked up, tapped on the window, and demanded she exit the vehicle, Fox 32 reported.

The reporter said she followed their instructions, got out of the vehicle, and they got in and drove off.

Tribune editor Dan Haar said the reporter did not hear the carjackers say they were armed nor did she see any display of weapons. The reporter remained unharmed during the incident.

No one is in custody, no suspects have been identified, and police reported that the investigation is still underway.
