President Donald Trump hit the New York Times, one of his favorite media targets, for its political activism against his tax reform bill.
“The Failing @nytimes, the pipe organ for the Democrat Party, has become a virtual lobbyist for them with regard to our massive Tax Cut Bill,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “They are wrong so often that now I know we have a winner!”
Trump was referring to the New York Times’ opinion page decision to campaign against the Republican tax plan and use its Twitter account to urge readers to call Republican senators to try to stop it.
The decision was ridiculed on Fox & Friends early this morning before the president tweeted about it.
Fox & Friends hosts commented that the newspaper appeared to be breaking its own social media guidelines, recently put in place to protect its reporters from appearing partisan.
“It seems like they have to give themselves a 15-yard penalty and no reason to have this play reviewed,” Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade said.
