President Donald Trump reacted to the news that Matt Lauer was fired by NBC as a result of “inappropriate sexual behavior” according to a memo authored by NBC president Andy Lack.
But the president attacked others at NBC, accusing them of inappropriate behavior and fake news.
“So now that Matt Lauer is gone when will the Fake News practitioners at NBC be terminating the contract of Phil Griffin?” Trump asked. “And will they terminate low ratings Joe Scarborough based on the ‘unsolved mystery’ that took place in Florida years ago? Investigate!”
The president appears to be raising questions about an intern that was found dead in Scarborough’s office, although according to the Miami Herald, a medical examiner found his staff member’s death was natural and not the result of foul play.
The president also pointed to Lack’s history, urging an investigation.
“Check out Andy Lack’s past!” Trump wrote, after accusing top executives at NBC and Comcast of “putting out so much fake news.”
It is unclear what part of Lack’s past Trump was referring to.
Lack has worked in the television news business since he started at CBS 1976. After a series of high-profile media jobs, Lack was asked to lead NBC/Universal in 2015 after anchor Brian Williams was caught making up fake news about his experience in Iraq.
