EXCLUSIVE — Bishop Aubrey Shines: Liberals Outraged Over Trump’s Border Wall Plan ‘Petty’ Hypocrites

Bishop Aubrey Shines

Evangelical Bishop Aubrey Shines says the same liberal Democrats who are outraged today over President Donald Trump’s border wall proposal weren’t incensed when then-Senator Barack Obama voted for the Secure Fence Act of 2006.

Bishop Shine says, in a video exclusive to Breitbart News, that if you believe President Trump is a racist for advocating his border wall and immigration policies, “were you outraged when Barack Obama … voted for the Secure Fence Act in 2006?”

“The bill before us will certainly do some good. It will authorize some badly needed funding for better fences and security along our borders. And that should help stem some of the tide of illegal immigration in this country,” then-Senator Obama said in a Senate floor speech in 2006.

Bishop Shines says “perhaps you’re prejudiced” if you’re outraged at President Trump’s border plan but weren’t enraged at then-Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Chuck Schumer, and the 23 other Democratic senators who voted in favor of the Secure Fence Act.

“Or, you’re just being petty,” Bishop Shines, head pastor at Tampa Florida’s Glory to Glory Church, said.

Bishop Shines also notes Obama’s beliefs that illegal immigration negatively affects wages for working-class Americans, who have to compete with illegal aliens for blue-collar jobs.

“[T]here’s no denying that many blacks share the same anxieties as many whites about the wave of illegal immigration flooding our Southern border—a sense that what’s happening now is fundamentally different from what has gone on before,” Obama wrote in his 2006 autobiography, The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.

“Not all these fears are irrational. The number of immigrants added to the labor force every year is of a magnitude not seen in this country for over a century,” Obama noted. “If this huge influx of mostly low-skill workers provides some benefits to the economy as a whole—especially by keeping our workforce young, in contrast to an increasingly geriatric Europe and Japan—it also threatens to depress further the wages of blue-collar Americans and put strains on an already overburdened safety net.”

Bishops Shines urges Americans be “outraged at the media that neglect to be honest with you about the facts.”

“I ask you to exercise civility. Be outraged when the facts are not given but the same diet of decisiveness is served,” Shines says.
