On November 5, a witness to the deadly Texas church shooting recounted how his neighbor grabbed a rifle, took “cover behind a car,” then shot at the gunman and ended the attack.
The witness, Kevin Jordan, was changing the oil in his vehicle when heard the attacker open fire on the church. He said he looked at the gunman and the gunman saw him and fired off a round toward his house.
He told KENS5 that his neighbor ascertained what was going on, retrieved a rifle, and went to intervene:
Our neighbor, who’s a very good guy, a very big Christian, he’s the nicest person on the planet [and] will do anything for anyone around here. We’ve known him for years, he’s childhood friends with my dad. He came with his [gun] and he took cover behind a car and he shot the guy. I’m not sure if it was inside the church and the guy was coming out, but if it wasn’t for him the [attacker] would not have stopped.
He added, “That’s when the [attacker] got in his vehicle and drove off and our friend shot through the window trying to get him again and the [attacker] apparently crashed down the road.”
Jordan has medical training and entered the church to help victims once the attacker fled. He said the scene was horrific but observed, “It would have been worse if [the attacker] had kept going. But if it wasn’t for our friend–he stepped in–there might have been more lives lost.”
Fox News’s Laura Ingraham tweeted Jordan’s firsthand account with the caption: “A man with a rifle who shot at the killer probably saved lives.”
