Democrat gubernatorial candidate Ralph Northam told Virginia voters he was proud of his D- NRA rating and the NRA pointed out that he actually has an F.
An ad released by the NRA Political Victory Fund shows Northam saying, “My grade with the NRA is a D minus, and I’m proud of that.”
The ad’s narrator then responds, “That’s a lie. It’s an F.”
More footage plays, showing Northam defending his gun control positions by saying, “I have always stood up to the NRA. This is an ‘us vs them’ issue.”
The ad goes on to point out that “‘anti-gun billionaires like Michael Bloomberg are funding Northam’s campaign.” This means the “us vs them” aspect of the gubernatorial race is, in large part, out-of-state gun control money vs. pro-Second Amendment Virginia residents.
On October 23 Breitbart News reported that Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety was dumping $400,000 into Northam’s campaign. That was on top of the $700,000 they gave to Northam in mid-September.
The gun control lobby has very deep pockets. Bloomberg donated over $52 million to gun control causes in 2014. Thirty-six million went to Everytown, who then used that money to push Bloomberg-backed gun controls, and $16.7 went to gubernatorial candidates who wanted more restrictions on the Second Amendment.
The same scenario is now playing out in Virginia, as Bloomberg’s gun control group throws money at Northam in hopes of defeating pro-Second Amendment candidate Ed Gillespie (R).
