An Airbnb guest is accused of sexual assault for allegedly lying naked in a bed with his host’s 7-year-old daughter.
The unidentified Minnesota homeowner called police Sunday night, alleging that Derrick Aaron Kinchen, 28, sexually assaulted his 7-year-old, the New York Daily News reported.
A criminal complaint obtained by KARE states that Kinchen rented a room in the host’s Minnetonka home for a wedding.
The homeowner said Kinchen returned to the residence Sunday night and allegedly entered the parents’ bedroom, where the girl had been sleeping and slipped under the covers of the bed.
The host said he found Kinchen naked next to the 7-year-old after he noticed the lights were on in the master bedroom.
The host allegedly told police that Kinchen pulled up his daughter’s nightgown.
After the homeowner began yelling at Kinchen, the suspect grabbed his things and fled the house.
The Daily Mail reports that police arrived at the home on Bellevue Drive around 12:22 a.m. and used K9 dogs to sniff out the suspect.
Authorities found Kinchen hiding inside a neighbor’s fishing boat and took him to the hospital after a police K-9 bit him.
The host’s daughter was taken to the hospital for an evaluation. Investigators say the girl woke up after Kinchen entered the bedroom.
The girl said Kinchen allegedly whispered something in her ear before climbing into the bed. Kinchen pulled the girl’s underwear down, but she reportedly pulled them back up, according to the criminal complaint.
Airbnb spokesman Benjamin Breit said that guests and hosts are screened against global terror watch lists, and U.S. guests and hosts are checked for felony convictions, sex offender registries, and significant misdemeanors.
“The reported abhorrent behavior has no place on Airbnb, and we will not tolerate it. We are focused on providing our host family with our full support, we are working with the local police to ensure they have our assistance and we banned this user from our community,” he said.
Authorities charged Kinchen with criminal sexual assault. He is being held on $250,000 bond.
