Monday, Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), a member of the House Freedom Caucus, endorsed former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore in the contest for the Yellowhammer State’s U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Jeff Sessions.
According to Harris, his reasoning for supporting Moore was because of the circumstances in Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Senate.
“Washington needs to be shaken up, and I can’t think of a better man to do that than Judge Roy Moore,” Harris said in a statement issued through Moore’s campaign. “He will bring not only principle to the senate, but also a backbone of steel. I am proud to endorse him.”
Moore welcomed the endorsement and touted Harris as someone that supported conservative causes.
“I thank Congressman Harris for his support,” Moore said. “The principled men in Washington who are fighting for limited government and for real conservative change are coming together to support our campaign. They are fighting in the trenches and to them I say ‘help is on the way’.”
