A note left on Sen. Dean Heller’s (R-NV) door on Monday threatened to kill him if he voted in favor of the proposed health care bill, the Nevada Independent reported.

“Vote no on the health care bill or I will lose my health care and die, and you will, too,” the note reportedly read.

Although the identity of the culprit remains unknown, it is understood they illegally gained access to Heller’s office but did not steal anything.

“The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a call from an alarm company representative reporting a burglary alarm at the main entrance of an office building where Senator Dean Heller’s office is located,” a police statement said.

“The preliminary investigation by patrol officers determined that a burglary did not occur to the main building or to Senator Heller’s office,” the statement continued. “However, a threatening note addressed to Senator Heller was discovered near the door to his office.”

Heller was seen as a pivotal vote to pass reformed health care package, before the bill collapsed on Monday evening after Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Mike Lee (R-UT) announced they would not be supporting the bill, meaning there are not enough Republican votes for it to pass.

In June, Heller announced he would not be supporting a bill that “that takes insurance away from tens of millions of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Nevadans,” although has since revealed he remains undecided.

His support for the bill was seen as particularly precarious given that he is running for re-election in 2018, across a state that Hillary Clinton won in the 2016 presidential election.

Voting on the bill was delayed until next week to accommodate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) fully recovers from surgery removing a blood clot from above his left eye.
