The New York Daily News reports the man who attacked Bronx Lebanon Hospital on June 30 acquired his firearm at a gun store just over a week before the attack.
Breitbart News reported that the attacker, a doctor formerly affiliated with the hospital, killed one doctor and wounded numerous others before killing himself.
NYDN reports that the attacker used an AR-15 which was purchased “from Upstate Guns and Ammo in Schenectady.” The Albany Times Union quoted ATF spokesman Matt Myerson confirming that the Bronx hospital attacker bought his gun from a dealer “in the state.” Myerson added, “It appears the dealer was lawfully permitted to transfer the firearm.”
It is important to point out that purchasing the gun from a dealer would have required a background check, which would make the Bronx Lebanon Hospital attacker yet another example of the fact that background checks do not stop determined attackers.
We recently saw this same thing with the Alexandria attacker, who opened fire on GOP Congressional members using guns he had acquired via background checks. Prior to that we saw it with both Fort Hood attackers, the DC Navy Yard attacker, the Lafeyette theater attacker, the Chattanooga military base attacker, the Charleston church attacker, Gabby Giffords’ attacker, and the Aurora movie theater attacker, to name but a few.
