A Canadian man armed with only a bow and arrow recorded the moment he was attacked by a charging black bear, according to a new video.

Richard Wesley, of Hearst, Ontario, spotted the bear 100 feet away while he was hunting in Fire River, the Daily Mail reported.

The video, which was uploaded Monday, shows the bear wandering around until it started walking towards Wesley.

Wesley tries to scare the bear off by making a loud noise and standing up while holding a bow.

He slowly moves back while still making noise when the bear suddenly charges at him.

The bear makes a leap for Wesley at his neck, but he was able to fend off the bear with his bow temporarily before he fell to the ground.

Wesley fought the bear while his camera, which dropped to the floor, was still recording.

He brawled with the bear off-camera for about 15 seconds before he picked up his camera and fled to safety.

“I should have shot a long time ago,” he said in the video after he fled.

It is not known whether or not the bear survived the scuffle.

“I am so happy after this confrontation with a black bear during our spring hunt,” Wesley said in the YouTube description, according to the Toronto Sun. “No wounds except a bruised elbow and ego where the bear threw me down. Genuinely happy that this was a non fatal or tragic outcome.”
