Barron Trump, the youngest son of President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, will attend a private school in Maryland this fall, once he moves to the White House along with his mother.
Barron, 11, will attend the private St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, about 45 minutes away from Washington, the Washington Post reported.
The first lady released a statement confirming Barron’s enrollment in the school this fall:
We are very excited for our son to attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. It is known for its diverse community and commitment to academic excellence. The mission of St. Andrew’s is ‘to know and inspire each child in an inclusive community dedicated to exceptional teaching, learning, and service,’ all of which appealed to our family. We look forward to the coming school years at St. Andrew’s.
Barron is finishing out his fifth-grade year at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City and will move to Washington in the summer with his mother, Melania.
He will start sixth grade at St. Andrew’s, a coeducational college preparatory school serving children from Pre-K to 12th grade, where he will be the first presidential child to attend the school.
The White House originally planned to make the announcement over the summer when school is not in session over fears that protests would take place at the school, but as rumors and unconfirmed reports surfaced, parents expressed security concerns.
School leaders responded by sending a letter to parents confirming Barron’s enrollment in the class of 2024.
“On Friday, a report began to circulate online that Barron Trump will attend St. Andrew’s next year. With consent from the family, we write to confirm that Barron will be a member of the Class of 2024,” Head of School Robert Kosasky and Head of Middle School and Chief Diversity Officer Rodney Glasgow wrote in a joint letter to parents.
The letter also says that school officials will be working with Secret Service to make sure “logistics and security will continue to work smoothly and discreetly next year for all of our students and families” and maintain a safe and “positive feel” on campus.
Tuition at St. Andrew’s costs $38,590 for grades 6-8, and increases as the students progress to the upper grades, according to the school’s website.
Even though Barron has mostly been in New York, he found the time to take his entire fifth grade class to Washington, D.C. to meet President Trump and tour the White House last Wednesday, the New York Post’s “Page Six” reported.
A source told “Page Six” that 80 children from Columbia Grammar traveled to D.C. on a bus along with Secret Service agents and teachers.
The source added that the class had a buffet lunch and tour of the White House that included a chance to meet the president and the first lady, and they stayed at a hotel overnight before making the trip back to New York Thursday.
