President Donald Trump’s social media campaign director, Dan Scavino Jr., has pledged to release footage of Hillary Clinton’s concession call on the night of the election.
In a tweet, Scavino posted a screenshot of the call from Clinton advisor Huma Abedin at 02:30 in which Clinton conceded, adding that he “had it on video and will share that in the near future.”
Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway then responded to the tweet, asking whether everyone had accepted the election result yet.
According to a new book detailing the failures of her presidential campaign, Clinton was initially reluctant to concede, despite Donald Trump piling up wins in key battleground states.
However, Obama urged Clinton to declare defeat and not to “drag it out,” while reiterating the importance of conceding with “dignity.”
In his victory speech, Trump opened with the words: “I’ve just received a call from Secretary Clinton.”
“She congratulated us on our victory and I congratulated her and her family on a very, very hard-fought campaign. She fought very hard,” he said.
