Deputies in Lincoln County, North Carolina, have filed no charges against a woman who emerged from a bedroom and killed a man trying to sell stolen guns in one of the front rooms of her residence.
The shooting was ruled self-defense, as the deceased man–51-year-old Marion Yarborough–was allegedly holding another resident of the home at gunpoint.
According to the Associated Press, the incident occurred around 2:45 pm Saturday and revolved around an effort to sell guns that had allegedly been stolen earlier in the day. Yarborough and another man entered a home near Lincolnton, NC, and were trying to sell the guns when an argument erupted. Yarborough then pulled a gun and ordered a male resident to the floor. That is when the unidentified female resident emerged from the bedroom with a handgun and shot Yarborough dead.
Police arrived to find Yaborough’s body in the front yard.
The Gaston Gazette reports that the man accompanying Yarborough and a female–who had waited outside–both fled the scene when the woman opened fire.
The guns had been been stolen in Gastonia earlier Saturday.
