Reuters announced Tuesday evening that President Donald Trump will sign new orders on Thursday to reverse some of President Barack Obama’s pro-migrant and pro-refugee policies.
According to Reuters:
President Donald Trump was expected to sign several executive orders restricting immigration on Thursday, at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to several congressional aides and immigration experts briefed on the matter.
Trump’s orders were expected to involve restricting access to the United States for refugees and some visa holders from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, said the aides and experts, who asked not to be identified.
Trump is coming under criticism from pro-American immigration reformers for not immediately stopping the renewal of two-year work permits given to roughly 750,000 illegal immigrants by Obama’s 2012 quasi-amnesty.
Also, reformers are urging Trump to stop Obama’s border policies that have allowed more than 350,ooo unskilled Central American migrants to apply for asylum, and to reverse Obama’s policy of importing many unskilled Islamic refugees and migrants via Turkey.
In his last few months, Obama also issued regulations which sharply increased the inflow of foreign while-collar professionals who compete for professional jobs sought by young American graduates.
In the first half of 2016, Obama’s agencies brought one migrant for every two births into the United States, according to the Center for Immigration Studies.
