Two masked men held up an Amazon delivery driver at gunpoint in Chicago Tuesday morning.
After holding up the man at 84th Street and South Hermitage, the armed men took bags filled with packages and drove away in a black minivan, CBS Chicago reported.
“They walked up on me, they had ski masks and told me, ‘You know what it is.’ I put my hands up and told them take what they want, just let me go,” says the driver, who asked to remain anonymous.
Police said the suspects were about 5’10” in height and wore black hooded sweatshirts, the Chicago Sun Times reported.
The driver was not hurt during the robbery.
This is the second armed robbery of an Amazon truck in Chicago this week.
An Amazon driver in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago was held at gunpoint before the suspect stole his truck, WLS reported.
A gunman approached the delivery driver, demanded his keys, and drove off with the truck after the delivery driver handed the keys to the gunman.
Amazon’s spokesperson released a statement regarding the Bridgeport armed robbery: “Our thoughts are with the delivery associate. Amazon will cooperate with the police and our service provider to bring the perpetrator to justice,” Amazon spokesperson Ernesto Apreza said.
Detectives are investigating both robberies, but no arrests have been made, and no one is in custody in either case.
