Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) plans to participate in a prime-time CNN Town Hall at George Washington University on Monday, January 9 at 9 p.m. ET.
According to CNN, Sanders will sit down with Chris Cuomo and take questions on major issues facing the nation. The town hall will also focus on the Democratic strategy for approaching President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.
During the 2016 campaign, when he ran for president on the Democratic ticket, Sanders focused on wealth inequality, free community college and waging a war against the top one percent; a revolution he has vowed to continue despite his loss in the primary.
Many of his followers called him a sellout after he threw his support behind Hillary Clinton, despite having knowledge of her corruption. Sanders has been one of President-elect Donald Trump’s staunchest and most vocal critics.
CNN will also host an hour-long town hall with House Speaker Paul Ryan on Thursday, January 12 at 9 p.m. ET.
Ryan will sit down with Jake Tapper and will reportedly discuss House Republicans’ “Better Way” agenda for the Trump administration, which will include Trump’s plans to replace and repeal the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare). He will also address questions about the Republican Party’s strategy for President-elect Trump’s first 100 days in the White House.
The Russian hacking allegations and alleged interference with the 2016 presidential elections will likely also be addressed.
Although there is no proof that the Russian government was involved in “tampering with, altering, or causing a misappropriation of information with the purpose or effect of interfering with or undermining election processes or institutions,” Ryan issued a statement last week backing President Barack Obama’s new sanctions against Russia.
Ryan said, the “action by the administration is overdue, it is an appropriate way to end eight years of failed policy with Russia.”
