The White House reacted to the Facebook live video of four African-American teenagers beating and torturing a white disabled man, denouncing the apparent crime.
”They do demonstrate a level of depravity that is an outrage for a lot of Americans,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said, referring to the “disturbing images” from the incident. Earnest noted that the case was still under investigation.
Earnest made his remarks during the White House press briefing and said he was unaware whether President Barack Obama had seen the video or had a reaction.
“I haven’t spoken to the president about it, but I’m confident he would be angered,” Earnest said.
He declined to speculate whether the Justice Department would get involved with the investigation of the case.
Obama is hosting interviews with several local Chicago news stations on Thursday afternoon, making it possible that the president will personally react to the incident.
