A man has died after being viciously stabbed in front of his child in a Hayward, California, Target store on Christmas Eve, reports say.
A police report says Tyrone Griffin, 36, was shopping with his wife and his 4-year-old child at the Target location on Whipple Road in Hayward when two men began playing “vulgar music” on their cell phones in the toy section of the store, ABC 7 reported.
When Griffin confronted to men about the loud, vulgar music, the pair began to assault Griffin. The father of four was then stabbed in front of his young son.
Griffin later died at a local hospital.
The victim’s mother, Yolanda Lindsey, said, “Basically Tyrone was a real good father. Every time you see him if he wasn’t at work, he was with his children,” she said.
The Griffin family is struggling to pay for the funeral and has set up a GoFundMe page to help defray costs.
“Words can’t describe the pain I feel inside. My heart continues to beat but I don’t feel alive. My children wake up on Christmas Day. But their father was killed the night before and I don’t know what to say,” the page reads.
Two men in their 20s have been arrested. They are 22-year-old Frankie Archuleta and 25-year-old Jesse Archuleta, both of Hayward, California. Charges are pending, according to a local Fox report.
