Madison Square Garden Company released a statement on Friday, responding to backlash after one of the dancers for the Radio City Rockettes posted on social media that she was embarrassed to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration in January.
The company says the dancers are not obligated to perform and that each Rockette “must voluntarily sign up.”
The statement added that more dancers have signed up for the inauguration performance than there are slots available, adding, “We eagerly await the inaugural celebrations.”
The reaction comes after previous reports suggested that the Rockettes were told it was an obligation to perform, according to The Hill.
