President-elect Donald Trump says he’s “very impressed” with retired Gen. David Petraeus, whom he met with on Monday.
Trump is reportedly considering Petraeus for secretary of state, according to Bloomberg.
Petraeus previously left his government position as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency under President Obama after sharing classified documents. He took a plea deal instead of facing trial and served two years probation and paid a $100,000 fine.
“I was with him for about an hour,” Petraeus told reporters following his meeting on Monday with Trump. “He basically walked us around the world. Showed a great grasp of a variety of the challenges that are out there and some of the opportunities as well.”
“Very good conversation, and we’ll see where it goes from here. We’ll see where it goes from here,” he added.
