Former General David Petraeus told reporters that President-elect Donald Trump appeared to understand world challenges after a meeting at Trump Tower in New York City on Monday afternoon.
“He basically walked us around the world. Showed a great grasp of a variety of the challenges that are out there and some of the opportunities as well,” David Petraeus told reporters after meeting with Trump.
Trump was pleased with the meeting as well.
“Just met with General Petraeus–was very impressed!” he wrote on Twitter after the meeting.
The meeting lasted about an hour and was described by Petraeus as a “very good conversation.”
When asked about a possible position in a Trump administration, Petraeus remained noncommittal.
“We’ll see where it goes from here,” he said before exiting the building.
Trump officials have confirmed that Petraeus is a possible choice for Trump to be Secretary of State together with former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and former mayor Rudy Giuliani.
