On Friday a napping grandma awoke to the sound of strange people in her home so she loaded her gun, threw open her bedroom door, and greeted the home invasion suspects in the hallway.
The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. in Coweta County, Georgia.
According to Fox 5, seventy-eight-year-old Elaine Stiehl had just got in bed to take a nap when she heard the noises. She got out of bed and “loaded her gun,” then stepped out into the hall where sheriff’s department personnel said she saw two men “in the process of stealing furs and tools from the home.” The men fled when they saw Stiehl’s gun.
A neighbor provided law enforcement with a description of the suspects’ vehicle and two men and a woman were later arrested in connection with the alleged invasion.
One of the men–32-year-old John Michael O’Neal–was “charged with burglary and theft by receiving stolen property.” The other, 44-year-old Thomas Allen Linder, was “charged with burglary and weapons possession by a convicted felon.” The alleged getaway driver, 49-year-old Ann Renee Dearman, 49, “was charged with burglary.”
Coweta County Sheriff’s Colonel James Yarbrough said, “I don’t know why they selected that house, but they picked the wrong one.”
