President-elect Donald Trump is holding multiple meetings — including lunch with the New York Times — before departing to Mar-a-Lago for the Thanksgiving holiday.
He plans to meet with three individuals, including: President and CEO of SVC Seema Verma, Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Dr. Ben Carson. Trump will also speak with Vice President-elect Mike Pence about the transition.
The President-elect is also having lunch on Tuesday with the New York Times before he heads to Florida later in the afternoon.
His lunch with the New York Times comes after Trump posted on Twitter that he had canceled the meeting. However, five hours later, he posted on Twitter the meeting was going to occur.
According to his transition team, Trump will release a Thanksgiving video message on Wednesday. Vice President-elect Mike Pence will spend Thanksgiving in Mississippi where his son, who is in the U.S. Marines, is stationed.
Republican National Committee Chief Strategist and Communications Director Sean Spicer told reporters on Tuesday that the President-elect and the Vice President-elect have held “almost 60 meetings with highly qualified individuals” pertaining to the transition in order to assemble the incoming administration.
As of Tuesday morning, no announcements are expected to come about positions in Trump’s administration while he is away in Florida.
