While Hillary Clinton clings to a lead in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump has the support of a plurality of white voters along with nearly a third of black and Hispanic voters, a poll released by Axiom Strategies found.
In a race than includes third-party candidates, Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump 45 percent to 42 percent, while seven percent are still undecided.
Broken down by race, 45 percent of whites back Trump, while 42 percent support Clinton. A majority of blacks support Clinton, (61 percent), but nearly one-third back Trump: 29 percent. Of Hispanics, 58 percent support Clinton, but 30 percent say they’re voting Trump.
Men are divided on their support: 43 percent support Clinton and 43 percent support Trump. Six percent are undecided. Of women, 47 percent support Clinton and 41 percent Trump.
Clinton leads in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but she’s still statistically tied with Trump in the Steel City. Trump crushes her by double digits in Harrisburg, Johnstown, and Wilkes Barre.
Pollsters questioned 1,997 likely voters from Oct. 20 to Oct. 22, and weighed the data “to match expected turnout demographics for the 2016 General Election.” The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.19 percentage points.
Pennsylvania has 20 electoral votes.
Failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney won 27 percent of Hispanics in Pennsylvania in 2012, while President Obama won 71 percent. Obama won 93 percent of the black vote.
