Donald Trump told supporters gathered at Regent University’s Library Plaza in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Saturday afternoon that when it comes to the military he believes in three words — “peace through strength.”
The Republican nominee told the large crowd that he will rebuild the military and a 350 ship fleet for the U.S. Navy.
According to Trump’s former Virginia state campaign chairman, there are more than 800,000 veterans in Virginia, so the issue of a declining military is important in this key swing state.
The Republican nominee spent time attacking his opponent Hillary Clinton, whom he trails by roughly eight points in Virginia.
Trump’s stop in Virginia came after he delivered a speech in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania earlier on Saturday, where he detailed a plan for his first 100 days in office if he were to be elected President of the United States.
He is also holding a campaign rally in Ohio Saturday night.
