A grade school principal is under investigation after a member of the community saw what she claimed was an anti-Muslim post on the administrator’s Facebook page.

A spokesman for the York Region District School Board in Ontario, Canada, confirmed that Ghada Sadaka, a recently elevated principal of Sir Wilfrid Laurier Public School in Markham, is being investigated for the posts.

“We take all matters of this nature seriously. After learning of the allegations, the board has begun an investigation,” the school district spokesperson said.

The district refused to supply more specific information since the investigation is a personnel matter, and calls to Principal Sadaka were referred to district officials.

A report at The Hamilton Spectator revealed at least one post calling for moderate Muslims to stand up against radical terrorists.

But at least one member of the community complained about the post.

A woman wishing to remain anonymous told the paper, “As I was on Facebook I stumbled upon a principal’s page who had some Islamophobic posts.” She added that it was “obvious” the school official has a “dislike towards Muslims.”

“It is unacceptable to be seeing this behavior,” the anonymous complainant added.

The school board assured the woman that the situation is being taken seriously. “We will definitely take your concerns and follow up into the matter,” the paper reported.
