A man who identified himself only as “Steve from Virginia” climbed Trump Tower Wednesday afternoon in New York City with suction cups and a harness.
“Steve” was climbing for more than two hours but was apprehended by police around 6:30 p.m.
“The climber has a backpack and appears to be using ropes and a harness to fasten himself to the side of the 58-story Manhattan skyscraper,” according to USA Today. “Officers are lowering themselves toward him using a window washer’s platform.”
Fox News reported he is from Virginia, citing NBC 4.
Pictures and videos of the climb caught fire on social media:
A local news network reported that a video uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday shows a man named “Steve” delivering a message to Donald Trump and who ever watches his climb.
The one-minute video ends with a call to vote for Trump. However, it is not confirmed the man in the video is in fact the climber apprehended on Wednesday.
Trump is on the campaign trail Wednesday, spending the afternoon in Virginia and holding an evening rally in Florida. He sent a Tweet about the incident:
