As Donald Trump met with coal miners in Virginia on Wednesday, his campaign released a video attacking Hillary Clinton’s promise “to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”
In March, Clinton stated, “I’m the only candidate which has a policy about how to bring economic opportunity using clean renewable energy as the key into coal country. Because we’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”
The Trump campaign video titled, “Hillary’s War on Coal is Wrong for American Workers,” shows Trump responding to Clinton’s statement, vowing “that will never happen with Donald J. Trump as president. Our steel workers and our miners are going back to work again.”
The video comes as an effort to separate Trump’s coal and manufacturing policies from Clinton’s in key coal producing states, such as: Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania, where the New Yorker currently trails the former secretary of state.
