Hillary Campaigns for ‘My Friend Debbie’ Wasserman Schultz

Hillary Clinton campaigned Tuesday in Florida for her surrogate Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is facing a determined primary challenge from a Bernie Sanders-supporting trade law professor named Tim Canova.

Breitbart News extensively reported on the email leaks that led to Wasserman Schultz’s ouster as Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman. The DNC actively colluded against Bernie Sanders to deny him a fair shot in the primaries and also called its Hispanic mobilization efforts their “Taco Bowl Outreach.” Booed off the stage at a presser the first day of the convention in Philly, Wasserman Schultz went down and she went down hard.

But Clinton campaigned for the disgraced former DNC chief Tuesday in Florida at her district campaign office.

“I can’t think of anyone who deserves your support for re-election … [more] than my friend Debbie,” Clinton told supporters at the office. “I am committed to doing whatever I can to support her as she returns to the Congress with your support by her side because we have a lot of work to do.”

“I have to have her in Congress, by my side, working day after day,” she added.

Insiders are not entirely hopeful that Canova can pull it together by month’s end to defeat Wasserman Schultz, but his populist message about bad trade deals is definitely resonating with some.

“Most of the delegation has top staffers who work on trade issues. That wasn’t the case with Wasserman Schultz,” Canova said in an interview with Breitbart News when Sanders was still in the race against Clinton. “I was told to call her office to talk about TPP. I was told to talk to her legislative aide in Washington DC. I sent two emails to this aide and I never got a response.”

“For eight years, corporate lobby money had been banned from the DNC. Now, since Debbie Wasserman Schultz overturned that ban, the DNC is able to take corporate lobby money,” Canova said, railing against Clinton’s superdelegates.

“This is rigging the system just by changing the rules,” Canova added, referring to Wasserman Schultz. “This is someone who pretends to be a progressive!”
