Donald Trump Thanks Paul Nehlen for Support After Ryan Sides with Hillary Clinton

Paul Nehlen and Trump

Janesville, WI– Republican nominee Donald Trump thanked Wisconsin business Paul Nehlen for defending him against the recent attacks from Hillary Clinton and corporate media.

Trump tweeted:

While Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan was quick to join Clinton in her latest attack against his party’s nominee, Nehlen chose to stand by the party’s standard-bearer, and authored a defense of Trump against the politicization of a Muslim American soldier, who died fighting in a war that Clinton supported.

Following the media’s near round-the-clock coverage of Khizr Khan, Ryan issued a statement in which he, once again, disavowed the use of a religious test for admitting foreign migrants.

By contrast, Nehlen stood by Trump, and said that Trump’s proposals to curb the record high rate of Islamic migration were simply “common sense.” Indeed, according to exit polls, seven out of ten Wisconsin GOP voters support a temporary pause to Muslim migration.

In his blog post, Nehlen praised Captain Humayun Khan as “an American hero… our nation owes Capt. Khan and his Gold Star parents a debt that can never be repaid.” However, Nehlen explained that “just because Capt. Khan was a patriotic Muslim-American who loved and fought for his adopted country, that doesn’t mean other Muslim-Americans don’t hate the United States and wish our people deadly harm.” Nehlen noted that, “Muslim-Americans have been fighting on BOTH sides of the war.  In fact, more Muslim-Americans (20) have been killed since 9/11 fighting for ISIS than have been killed fighting for America (14).”

Nehlen concluded: “No American citizens should lose their lives – or the lives of their sons and daughters – to radical Muslim extremists while running a marathon, attending a Christmas party or dancing at a nightclub. These are, indeed, desperate times. But Mr. Trump’s proposals aren’t desperate measures.  They’re just common sense.”

Speaker Ryan, who leads the pro-Islamic migration wing of the Republican Party, has repeatedly ruled out the possibility of curbing Muslim migration– insisting “that’s not who we are.” In fact, just last year, Ryan voted to increase Muslim migration by voting to fund an expansion to President Obama’s controversial refugee resettlement operation. Ryan funded visas for nearly 300,000 (temporary and permanent) Muslim migrants within a single year.

Nehlen has previously explained that if Speaker Ryan wins his re-election he will work to sabotage and “thwart President Trump at every opportunity.” Indeed, Ryan has already indicated his willingness to sue a President Trump over pausing Muslim migration. Additionally, Ryan will not commit to bringing up legislation to fund President Trump’s border wall—even though Ryan uses his own personal border fence to protect his family.

Nehlen’s blog post defending Trump can be read in full below:

Liberals and the mainstream media are having a collective meltdown, verging on an aneurism, over Donald Trump responding to the political attack launched against him at the Democrats’ convention last week by the father of a Muslim-American soldier who was killed in Iraq.

Without doubt, Khizr and Ghazala Khan’s son – Captain Humayun Khan – is an American hero who gave his life in defense of the United States of America while serving in Iraq in 2004.  Our nation owes Capt. Khan and his Gold Star parents a debt that can never be repaid.

However…

Mr. and Mrs. Khan chose to politicize the death of their son when they appeared on-stage in support of Hillary Clinton at the Democrat National Convention in Philadelphia.  Indeed, in his remarks Mr. Khan attacked, ridiculed and attempted to humiliate Mr. Trump and his positions on critical national security issues.

Did he really think his attack would go unanswered?

It’s not my place to respond on behalf of Mr. Trump; however, there are facts related to this controversy that the media clearly – and intentionally, in my opinion – isn’t telling the public about.  So allow me…

Mr. Khan charged that under Donald Trump’s proposed TEMPORARY suspension of refugee resettlements from specific Muslim countries, Capt. Khan “never would have been in America.”  But this is comparing apples to oranges.

In fact, the Khans moved to the United States from Pakistan in the 1970s.  That was long before the 9/11 radical Muslim attacks on the Twin Towers and Pentagon changed everything in this country.

And Capt. Khan’s death came years before the Ft. Hood shooting, the Boston Marathon bombing, the Chattanooga killings, the San Bernardino Christmas party mass murder and the Orlando nightclub massacre.

Circumstances have clearly and dramatically changed in the U.S. since Capt. Khan’s death at the hands of a Muslim suicide bomber in Iraq.

In addition, just because Capt. Khan was a patriotic Muslim-American who loved and fought for his adopted country, that doesn’t mean other Muslim-Americans don’t hate the United States and wish our people deadly harm.

A research paper, “Muslim-American Involvement with Violent Extremism, 2015” by Charles Kurzman of the Department of Sociology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill details some facts Mr. Khan and his supporters in the media are overlooking…

1.)  Muslim-Americans have been fighting on BOTH sides of the war.  In fact, more Muslim-Americans (20) have been killed since 9/11 fighting for ISIS than have been killed fighting for America (14).

2.)  Since 9/11, the number of Muslim-Americans who have been killed in action fighting for the U.S. is the same as the number of American soldiers who have been killed by fellow Muslim-American soldiers Major Nidal Hasan at Ft. Hood and Sgt. Hasan Akbar at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait.

3.)  Since 9/11, the number of Muslim-Americans who have been killed fighting for terrorist organizations in Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, and Pakistan is almost three times the number of Muslim-Americans who have been killed in action fighting for the U.S.

In addition…

  • According to a February 2015 report in The Hill, “FBI Director James Comey revealed that his agency is investigating suspected supporters of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in every state across the U.S.”
  • According to a July 2015 report in The Hill, “the FBI told Senate lawmakers that more than 200 Americans have tried to join Islamic extremists in Iraq and Syria.”
  • According to a November 2015 report by Judicial Watch, “The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has nearly 1,000 active probes involving the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) inside the United States.”

While the media focuses on a nebulous “small number” of Muslim “lone wolf terrorists,” the real breakpoint is the much larger subset of Muslims compliant to Islam’s laws of shariah.

Polls have put the numbers of “American Muslims” who believe they should have a choice between U.S. Law and shariah over the 50% mark. That is a big number of potential terrorists.

Mr. and Mrs. Khan shouldn’t have tragically lost their son to a Muslim suicide bomber while protecting his fellow American soldiers in Iraq.

But the murderous radical Islamic enemy that his candidate, Hillary Clinton, refuses to name is increasingly operating on our shores.

And no American citizens should lose their lives – or the lives of their sons and daughters – to radical Muslim extremists while running a marathon, attending a Christmas party or dancing at a nightclub.

These are, indeed, desperate times.

But Mr. Trump’s proposals aren’t desperate measures.  They’re just common sense.
