A 23-year-old Hillary Clinton supporter attacked a 67-year-old Donald Trump supporter outside of Clinton’s rally in Pittsburgh on Saturday when the elderly man tried to stop the Clinton supporter from burning an American flag.
Joshua Sturman, the Clinton supporter, approached a group of Trump supporters who were peacefully protesting with signs across the street from the rally and tried to set an American flag on fire.
The local CBS affiliate reports:
The Trump supporters attempted to put out the fire, which “enraged” Sturman. Sturman then threw a Trump supporter to the ground and attempted to jump on top of him. Bystanders alerted nearby officers, and police removed Sturman and placed him under detention.
The Trump supporter who was attacked told police he was afraid the flag had been doused in accelerant.
Police apprehended Sturman and arrested him. He is facing charges of disorderly conduct, simple assault, and “causing or risking catastrophe and recklessly endangering another person,” according to the Daily Mail.
