Republican nominee Donald Trump’s campaign chairman Paul Manafort is speaking out about the police shooting in San Diego, California. At least one officer was killed late Thursday night.

Manafort says the police shootings are a result of failed leadership and the country needs “leadership that gives direction to the country.”

“What’s going on in America is a result of seven and a half years of failed leadership and too often making the police and law enforcement agencies into the bad guys. They’re not the bad guys,” Manafort stated early Friday morning on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.”

“Now everybody has got the right message including the administration, but until there’s strong leadership — leadership that gives direction to the country — you’re going to continue to have this kind of lawlessness, unfortunately,” he added.

A police officer was killed and another injured during a shooting late Thursday night in San Diego, California. One suspect is in custody and the police are currently searching for others.
