Slamming the U.S. media establishment for failing to report on Hillary Clinton’s illicit email scandal, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump invited Russian hackers to “find” all Clinton’s “missing” emails for which the U.S. press will not look.
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 [Clinton] emails that are missing,” Trump said during his Wednesday press conference. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Let’s see if that happens.”
Trump’s jab at the U.S. media came after the Clinton camp said Russian hackers exposed the massive leak of internal Democrat documents and hinted that Trump was somehow involved in the whole incident.
Trump fully denied he had anything to do with the release of the DNC’s emails but noted that it was entirely outrageous that a major political party was so loose with its cyber security that it was to be easily hacked.
“Russia has no respect for our country,” Trump added about Vladimir Putin’s nation. “And that’s why, if it is Russia, nobody even knows it’s Russia, it was probably China. … It shows how weak we are. It shows how disrespected we are.”
The GOP nominee also pointed out that the issue was not who hacked the DNC emails, but what was actually in the emails that we should focus on as a nation: “It’s not even about Russia or China or whoever it is that’s doing the hacking. It’s about the things they said in those emails. They were terrible things,” Trump said.
The real estate mogul also disputed Hillary Clinton’s constant claims that she was in the dark about what was going on around her. Trump said despite Clinton’s claims to the contrary, she knew full well that the DNC was working to undermine Vermont’s socialist Senator Bernie Sanders.
“Believe me, as sure as you’re sitting there, Hillary Clinton knew about it,” Trump said. “She knew everything. Debbie Wasserman Schultz could not breathe without speaking and getting approval from Hillary Clinton.”
The revelations contained in the emails released on the eve of the Democrat Convention had quick and far-reaching consequences, forcing the resignation of the Party’s troubled chairperson, Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
