The Democratic National Committee (DNC) praises the New York Times article about Republican nominee Donald Trump’s poor treatment of women — a piece that was quickly debunked — calling it “great journalism.”
The Times’ story titled, “Crossing the Line: How Donald Trump Behaved With Women in Private,” received backlash almost immediately after its publication, as the first source quoted in the article came forward after the story was made public, claiming the reporters twisted her words and the story wasn’t accurate.
“Actually, it was very upsetting. I was not happy to read it at all,” Rowanne Brewer Lane — who is an ex-girlfriend of Trump’s — said about the article during an appearance on Fox News.
She continued:
Well, because The New York Times told us several times that they would make sure that my story that I was telling came across. They promised several times that they would do it accurately. They told me several times and my manager several times that it would not be a hit piece and that my story would come across the way that I was telling it and honestly, and it absolutely was not.
But on the day The Times published it’s hit piece, a leaked email within the communications department at the DNC showed a staff member praising the now discredited article as “great journalism.”
WikiLeaks recently revealed thousands of leaked emails from the DNC, which resulted in its chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign on Sunday.
