Missouri Officer ‘Shot from Behind’ Listed in Critical Condition

A police officer in Ballwin, Missouri, was “shot from behind” Friday while walking to his patrol car, and is still listed in critical condition.

According to ABC News, in the incident that occurred during a traffic stop around 11 a.m., Officer Michael Flamion stopped Antonio Taylor and was shot after he approached Taylor’s car for license and registration. Taylor allegedly exited his own vehicle, walked back toward Flamion, and opened fire.

Residents and witnesses called 911, and Flamion was rushed to a hospital. Taylor fled the scene, but was soon captured with a handgun in his possession.

On Monday, the Associated Press reported that Flamion had been “shot from behind as he walked back to his car” after pulling Taylor over for speeding. The attack is being prosecuted as a police ambush, but police know of no motive for the shooting.

Taylor had his first court appearance Monday morning. Flamion is still hospitalized.
